In the Sewing Room...

It's favorite season.

Gold, orange and red leaves cover the lawn. Some days are sunny and blue skyed, others are grey and rainy.

But, no matter the weather I love this time of year. I love the cool, fresh air in the morning. I love walking around my neighborhood looking at the maples, horse chestnut and oak trees proudly displaying their autumn colors. I love how the leaves glow under the sun and are warming to the eye even on a dull day as the wind whips them from the branches and swirls them across the sidewalk.

After a long summer of seemingly unchanging sunny days, this season of overt change reminds me of the progress of time and finds me trading t-shirts and flip flops for fleecy tops and cozy socks.

It also reminds me that it's time to start sewing as every Christmas I make stockings to sell on Etsy and so the autumn season finds me in my craft room designing, cutting, sewing, sewing and sewing!

2013 Christmas Stockings

This year I have designed several new motifs. The Rudolph, gingerbread man and Christmas tree motifs are a few...

Christmas tree and eat, drink, be merry!

Rudolph and joy, love, peace!

Gingerbread man, pet paws and personalized ornament stockings

I have also focused my attention on designing some new personalized Christmas stockings as a lot of visitors to my shop last year requested named stockings for their family members.

Personalized stockings - snowflake, Christmas lights and ornaments motifs

Personalized stockings - icicles, mistletoe and pointsettia motifs

Rudolph, gingerbread man and personalized snowflake stockings

And of course I am still making most of the popular motifs I listed in my shop last year.

So from here to Christmas (my other favorite time of the year!) I am to be found in my sewing room. My family does see me occasionally as I run to the kitchen to stock up on coffee and chocolate and know that if they need me they may draw up a chair beside me at my sewing machine. And as the autumn leaves fall you may also find me and my Christmas stockings at Stitcholicious. Why not pull up a chair and keep me company!

Calling All Tooth Fairies...

Finished finally!

Today I finished tweaking my latest sewing pattern - a toadstool tooth pillow. It is a quick to sew pattern that is perfect for beginner sewers with basic sewing and embroidery skills.

This is the first time I have used wool felt and I love it. At Christmas, I use Kunin Eco Felt for the Christmas stockings I sell on Stitcholicious and love the fact that I'm using a recycled product. Wool felt, however, comes in a much wider palette of yummy colors which fire my imagination. Indeed, I have already selected the wool felt colors for my next pattern!

Till then - sew happiness!
